In this hypothetical case, they can also delist big Chinese companies from Hong Kong stock exchange. They are listed in New York already.

Like I said before, they can easily further develop the big airports in Guangzhou and Shenzhen so that all transit traffic from China goes through them instead of Hong Kong.

Chinese factory products can be exported from the container ports in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, instead of HK.

The pillars of HK economy are being affected here, airport, container ports, stock exchange, tourism etc.

HK will have a hard time competing with so many big mainland cities.

Of course, they will not do that.

Do you know what delist will do to a company's value?  I totally dare them to delist from HK.  There are way more Chinese companies listed in HK than in the US.  US has SOX, not that many company can satisfy all their requirements.  Even Porsche had to pull their plan to list in the US.  Remember Sinoforest? They had to use Canadian shell company to get funding.  Yeah right, delist from HK.  go ahead.
