Your shot looks like one of those photos they use in a job article in the Jobs section. Again, it's funny how many different visual languages there are when it comes to portraits. With landscape or sports, there are only so many ways you can shoot. But with portraits, the possibility is endless.

I don't have alot to say about this one.
The idea with the lighting is the same, and so of the overall composition.  It's the action (What she was doing) define the differences.  I was also shooting in a slightly lower angle on the right side while she is leaning toward me from the left.  This help naturally define the line of her body.  I don't do fix poses like many other photographers, and I have a way to assist me, so that people can post more naturally regardless of his/her experience, and I'll share with everyone later, once I get a chance to post more pictures..!  But then only if people are interested =P

This is a completely diff picture, but I fig. it's may still help me express what I was talking about with my original post.

See how she is looking away from the camera, but with the helps on 4x6 image, it provide some extra room for where her eyes are looking.  I also have her adjust her head, so she is not moving only her eyes to the side.  Because I was using remote flash off my camera.  It often allow me to use my fill flash to fill in the area and angle I wanted. so that it create some level of contrast, and in this case, 1 side of her face has more shadows which helps her face looks more skinny.  (The amount of shadows need to be limited, so that it is not complely fill in shadows.

I don't usually shoot with squre format in mind.  The format I used are mostly 4x6 & 4x5.
So, I'll t ...

But I don't find this natural at all? It's just as posed (if not more) as others?

The high exposure on her face hurts my eyes in this one.

It was shoot Raw, so I only up the Raw and adjust it a little, see if it's better.  Yet, don't forget that brightnes is impact quite alot by people monitor.  And you can usually tell by double checking the RGB value.

Yes, you r right, it's posed.. I'll need to post a few more pictures, and I'll start explaining what I mean to properly pose a model w/o using traditional posing techni which helps reduce the amount of 生硬 from an non professional model.

But I don't find this natural at all? It's just as posed (if not more) as others?

yes
contrast depends on the monitor as well
but if every other shot looks fine and that one particularly hurts
then that's still a problem.
