I totally disagree with them saying students / young people have no rights...
Privacy is important, until it is a threat to others.
If the kids are doing drugs, the only reasonable thing to do if they were tested positive is to quarantine them take them to rehab. There is a lot of following up to do, understanding their circumstance provide additional and extra support, not a simple matter of expulsion or prosecution.
Usually it is not only peer pressure alone that cause young people to do drugs, there's also family condition / influences that pushes these drug taking agendas in their mind, and social acceptance as well.
testing drug abuse is not the way out, it would only make them more isolated from the norm and make it uncomfortable for everyone.
the government should focus on taking out the source and the infrastructure around the drug rather than punishing the victims... |
