Well...for me...the only thing I can't get used to is the smoke smell...
When I go to HK...I really can't stand the smoke smell ...especially in the restaurant...
My nose complained right away..

In Japan... I'd rather stand in the middle of the bullet train for 3 hours to avoid the smoking smell...

I don't think you really can live the Vancouver life style in hk.
I think it's prob easier to adjust to the HK life style if u have to move back. Then work REALLY hard for a few years. I can see some of my friends who moved back 5+ years ago having some Vancouver style life finally.
Playing golf on weekends, owning a car and a 1000 sq ft place, enjoying potluck/house party. But still, they need to travel to Japan/Korean for snow sports and south east asia for water sports.
I think the only cheap outdoor activity in HK is hiking and the beaches. (surfing prob is better there)
