Hm.. it is not wow but not so bad like you said.
Appy: so-so
Entree: I had the lamb shank and I like the sauce.  My friend said the ling cod is quite fresh though.
Dessert:  I like the coconut one.  It is actually pretty good
My hubby's cocktail taste quite good actually, but $15 is a bit high I think.  Overall not as good as I hope it to be and I think next year I won't even go to any DOV anymore.  What did you have?

Well, West was REALLy good when I went there.... 3 or 4 years ago for their expensive tasting menu. Since their Executive Chef David Hawksworth left, I've not gone back. (and I am waiting for the opening of his own new restaurant at Hotel Georgia.)

and...woo... I was googling and found out that their head chef Warren Geraghty (from London) announced to leave back in Mar 2010. And David Gunawan is promoted to be the new chef in mid April. I wonder if the new chef may not be handing it so well during dine out.

One thing I have to point out tho is that even if their lower their dine out menu price, these fine dine restaurants still charge other items at their regaulr price. So prepare to pay for more for drinks ($15 cocktail is not unusual), coffee and wine. (prob have nicer wine selection)

Went to Elixir last night with a bunch of gal friends.
Their menu was $28 and it had good food. There is a good appy soup, I had steak for the entree (there is also fish or this pasta dish), and chocolate truffle cakes for dessert.
Some of my friends did the wine pairing ($20 for 3 glasses of wine) and they really liked the wine too.

don't go with high or even moderate expectations !!
menu items are not interesting at all !!
If you just want a so so evening meal, that's ok
i would rather pay a  bit more for a better menu and service,
the food and service is not the same at the few high end restaurants.

tried cin cin last night, food is ok, but not as good as few years back.  service is soso.  good service is only provide to the one who order a lot of alcohol.

Went to Hell's Kitchen last night. Simple quick $18 dinner with pizza. Out of the 3 on the dine out menu, I think I like the veggie pizza most. The poutine was not bad and the salad was pretty good (if you like beets and goat cheese which I love). dessert is not bad too for a $18 meal. Ordered a double gin and tonic (double highball speical for sundays).

Bistro 101 on Granville Island is worth to try.  $18 and portion is regular
