I said the Beijing subway is copying the HK MTR's exit signs, not the subway system themselves. But perhaps I should say the Chinese (and in fact, everybody in the world) were copying the British's London Underground system, which is the first underground system in the World?

Guangzhou subway had screen doors when they first opened. There was no need to add afterwards.
Guangzhou subway had elevators to all levels of subway. HK subway just added elevators afterwards.

廣州地鐵2號線係全中國第一條有platform door既鐵路，通車日期係2002年12月28號。
香港係1998年通車既機場快線同東涌線已經有platform door。2000年開始逐步係其他站加platform door.
唔知邊個講話“Guangzhou installed screen doors before those in Hong Kong. They put guiding signs on the floor before those in Hong Kong.”

二号线使用了很多国内乃至国际上都处于领先地位的技术。广州地铁二号线是世界上全线都在建成时就安装了屏蔽门的地铁线路之一。
Guangzhou subway used the most modern technology when first built.
HK subway needed to add those technology.

Anyway, Guangzhou subway didn't need to copy from HK subway.
Guangzhou subway had elevators to all levels of subway. HK subway just added elevators afterwards. Some stations still do not have elevators
