I accept different point of views lar , tho i am still up on the point which 國語and普通話are different.
I speak Cantonese, Putonghua and Taiwan 國語 also 閩南（Taiwanese) , i think i know more details about that. ( all i can speak like native ).
The point to this post is not for a research of languages so it doesnt make sense on this topic.
Of course if you really interested in , i strongly recommend tht you can watch 台視新聞 （台灣）and 新聞聯播（大陸）, because they all speak in a standard way so you could more easier to get the difference.
Just wanna insert one point, you mentioned yo wife speaks 國語 of Malay, i can tell you its 國語 is different too becoz of big influenced by 閩南語, which closed to taiwan 國語， acually these 國語 exist some different ways to speak and most importantly is the accent. |
