in that case, you have too much ego.
when you are basically living without food and shelther, you won't care about ego anymore because that's basic survival needs.  Without life and a beating heart, where do you get the heart and mind to feel ashamed???

you think it's shameful because you never had the need for it.  right now sitting at home warm and cozy in front of a computer with internet connection and the free time to browse internet, of course you can say it's shameful.  you can even say you rather starve to death than receiving hand-outs from others.  but the truth is, when you are really starving to death, you won't care about shame or no shame.

【明報專訊】安徒生筆下有個賣火柴的女孩，為生計在寒冷的街頭叫賣。上星期，旺角    西洋菜街人潮中站着一個賣Cap帽的女孩，才15歲，曾被選為香港傑出學生，當同齡少女沉醉少女漫畫的虛幻，她卻在天水圍    綜援    家庭裏，終日想着如何搵錢養家，瞞着母親用獎學金「創業」，生產自己設計的Cap帽到街頭擺賣。

賣CAP帽的女孩受盡色迷迷的眼光及惡言辱罵，抹乾眼淚，她說會忍受直至麻木，因為夢不是為自己而發：「家裏窮，我希望將來賺錢請工人服侍媽媽。」

老師：她在學校什麼都參與

賣CAP帽的女孩名叫鄭金鈴，在屯門    保良局董玉娣中學讀中三精英班。母親說，自從多年前與丈夫離婚之後，沒有贍養費，一直靠綜援養大一對子女。金鈴上中學了，她哥哥也出來打工了，媽媽才放心找散工，「我一直沒空管束女兒，不知道她在幹什麼。」金鈴的老師王先昌則說：「她在學校什麼都參與……」戲劇、中提琴、畫畫、設計機器人，中二時甚至發起全校同學簽名爭取校車接送，又四出找巴士公司承辦，成熟程度令人吃驚。老師都知道她家裏很困難，「快要升高中了，很擔心她這樣會影響學業」。

但現實環境已讓金鈴成長到超出他們的想像，「家裏沒錢，媽媽上班很辛苦，送外賣、樓面什麼都做過，常捱到頂不住要辭職，一年轉6次工。我想學做生意，想賺錢發達，希望有一天能讓她過好日子」。訪問翌日，她哥哥便被金融海嘯淹沒，被公司裁掉。

曾代表香港赴美 參加機械人比賽

當時下父母都感嘆子女難教，金鈴卻在逆境中沒有學壞，一直躋身精英班，中一便代表學校贏得青少年機械人世界盃    香港區公開賽營救組冠軍。中二有機會代表香港往美國    亞特蘭大參加總決賽，興興冲冲告訴媽媽，媽媽卻說：「無錢呀，不要去了！」小女孩哇一聲哭了出來，母親說：「我不忍心，把戶口裏僅有的7000元提了出來讓她做旅費，立刻笑得好開心！」

金鈴和隊友為香港捧回季軍獎座，上了電視，同年又獲香港傑出教師協會評選為香港傑出學生。拿到3000元獎學金，她沒有買名牌、唱K，因為母親大半生服侍別人，「我將來想請工人服侍她」。

寄信任天堂詢版權 「一切資料上網找」

14歲的小腦袋便開始為家人的未來計劃。「我從網上訂貨，賣錢包，但沒賣出。」金鈴說，她其實也喜歡蠟筆小新、唱K、看日劇、逛街買衣服，但家境不容許奢侈，後來她從喜歡的「孖寶兄弟」找到了靈感，決心創業。金鈴用電腦設計了一頂紅色CAP帽，寄信給任天堂美國總部詢問版權，對方沒回覆反對，於是用1000元向香港知識產權署    申請外觀設計專利，去年11月獲批後，找內地廠商生產了50頂帽子，一半放在天水圍商場寄賣。「一切都是自己上網找資料，沒有告訴老師和媽媽。」她向傳媒發電郵介紹自己的產品，但經驗不足，語焉不詳，連月無人理會。

上星期四，她首次走到旺角街頭擺賣，站了一個下午賣出6頂，高興得忍不住回家告訴媽媽，媽媽才知道女兒竟做起生意來，擔心得很，「那條街壞人多過好人！回家睡覺好過啦！」她知道金鈴前日又要擺賣，嘴裏不斷向女兒潑冷水，下班後卻頂着疲倦趕到西洋菜街看望女兒，嚷着不睡覺也要陪伴至女兒「收工」。

王先昌老師昨天接到記者電話，才知道金鈴賣Cap帽的故事，感嘆說：「她家裏環境差，但很少說自己的事，我真是很吃驚，她好厲害！當下許多放縱的青少年，應該好好看看這個榜樣。」

單親、綜援、金融海嘯、失業……無數人頹唐呻吟的時代，天水圍這個賣Cap帽的女孩，沒有傷春悲秋。

i've been stuck home myself for around 3 months completely jobless.  it's one of the worst feelings in life, feeling absolutely useless.  I even attempted to find sales job that pays $8 an hour and they won't consider me because i have way too much experience and education... in other words, overqualified.

in december i went for an interview for a seasonal admin position at a factory and it pays like $10 an hour.  I went there early and the person who had interview before me (i know this because the door was wide open and i was just sitting outside) is a lady in her mid-40s who is a real estate agent and lives at a higher end area.  Even people who used to make tons and lives in a well off area needs to resort to finding a SEASONAL job that pays $10 AN HOUR... that's how bad the economy is.

guess i'm talking to someone without job search experience and does not know why experience and and education can hinder your job search when you are searching for a low paid entry level job.....

EI = 失業保險金﹐你有做野的話就會期糧供緊保險。
綜緩 = 又名救濟金﹐你qualify就好以領取。

兩個目的同本意都唔同﹐唔可以直接比較。

Yes, EI and welfare are under two programs, but it is the same MONEY from Canada government!!!
You should be shameful because you contributed LESS than the amount you are trying to receive now.  Go ..

1.  part of the ei money is came from employee & employer contributions, not like welfare, all from govn't.  so they are not the same.  we are not like you, hiding in your cage and doing nothing.  we do work and pay taxes.  six to seven months of our salary go to taxes inorder to support our govn't.
2.  there is no such thing esl math.  if you have problem with you math, take the math basic 1 la.   maybe you should learn more about canada before you argue with others.
3.  how do you know the amount that i have been contributed.  how do you know how much i can get.  so you believe either i earned too less or i am too young la.

btw, canada is my home country, since i am a canadian citizen & resident.  well, probably not for the refugee la, are you

“現實中好多野都係整定,就算點努力都好, 都係唔會改變得到﹐可能現在世界去得太快...就算幾努力都好....都追不上人..就好似給社會遺棄左咁...."
有努力過﹐有進修過﹐有一定挫折才說的得出上面的話。人生很說際遇﹐但有時候真的不管你花多少努力﹐現實就是現實﹐不到位就是不到位。
我也是為了保住飯碗才每天加班﹐一天至少十個鐘。但﹐我還是未真的入到行。努力跟際遇是不成正比的。
我有個band友為了在港交房租﹐結果下班後窮到要在街上拉小提琴﹐每日拿多一百幾十。
人生是無奈的﹐我是同情這個文章的主人翁。

我sense到有D人覺得呢個個案事主無工做係自己造成﹐難聽D講句係低死﹐我有無講錯?

我唔信﹐日日排對見工果一班失業大軍個個都要求高﹐唔實際﹐難服恃﹐嘆慣洗慣﹐二世祖﹐少爺仔﹐唔肯挨﹐無上進心囉。因為如果真係咁無恆心﹐點會去幾十個job fair﹐日日捕住勞工處﹐企街排3條街長嘅對去俾人評頭品足﹐壓價﹐貶低學識﹐人生攻擊同拒絕囉。呢一班人好多都好後生﹐有手有腳﹐但係唔一定有壞品德因為無工做就無工做。唔可以話"阿婆都有得掃街啦"就覺得呢D人一定有問題。如果係咁﹐呢個世界就唔應該有失業啦。
