if you are going to track day, then u should change it more often...even going to auto-x, fresh engine oil will just protect your engine better + let it rev much easier (with better lubrication as well as cooling down the engine)...
bmw says 25k for oil change interval, but even oil manufacturer they recommend anywhere between 5k to 12k, go figure! i recommend most of my friends to do theirs between 5k to 8k with motul synthetic instead of castrol's, they notice the engine is way more quiet and smoother (of course, u will notice less diff if u do it at 5k interval compares to 8k, or even 12k or 25k; that's because old oil hasn't been completely break down hence at least it's still doing its job)....
i am not gonna say if u dun do it like what i recommended your car is going to break down right the way, that's because car manufacturer knows it's not going to break down right the way yet it will run into more issues so later you will either have to get it fixed, or u will have to buy a new car from them (yes, unfortunately it's for ALL auto maker!)
