I seriously think it's fxxked up to spend tons of money on someone who's gonna die in a few months regardless and leave all those children with low quality education and deficient public services.  But such is the way society has been developed and I can't care much anymore.

That is incorrect. Your comments tells everyone you don't know what a Hospice is. Yet you have a strong feeling against it.

Hospice costs a lot? Where does that come from?

I wasn't talking about Canada in general.  It looks like Hospice is volunteer based in Canada, which is very different from the US.

If it doesn't cost anything in Canada, then what I said doesn't apply.  But that's completely off topic.

Discriminating people based on something a person has no control is wrong. You can quote me on this one.

If we disallow dying people to choose where they can live.  We will need to disallow Chinese, women and ugly people  to choose

Would you want to go back to the days when Chinese people are not allowed to live in W. Van?

Nobody is discriminating against them.  This is an economic issue, not a political or social issue.  If the gov is so rich, they can just cover all losses the owners have to suffer and build the hospice on the same site.  Or, if you have money, you can just hire personal caretakers and don't even need to go into a hospice.

So yes, we are discriminating against those who are poor, not those who are dying.

In a Hospice, there is no treatments for the disease, and no doctors on duty.  Part of the reason to have Hospice because it is a cost-saving measure.  With one nurse you can take care of 10+ patients.  (I think a doctor only comes 2 mornings within a week.)

These people just need a warm and quiet place to pass the last few days of their lives.

It is sad if made every decisions based on property values.

I think it's sad that the government can just screw you over because they want to.
