For all of you planning to move or sell your furniture, do NOT use a company called 新城! We just recently sold our house so we found two 收買二手家俬/搬運 companies on Chinese Buy/Sell and got quotes from them. 新城 gave the better quote between the two, and the boss 蘇生 sounded very polite and nice, so we decided go with them. Basically they will buy some of our used furnitures and then charge us a moving and disposal fee for other items. We made it very clear that all furnitures inside the house has to go, and he assured us that they will get rid of everything.
But half way through the moving things took a complete turn. After they got all the valuable stuff inside their truck, Mr. 蘇 said the moving/disposal fee is not enough to cover our “garbage”, and that they are leaving with around 20% of our furnitures still inside our house. He even said that he has never promise to get rid of anything he deems useless.
Of course, after a few rounds of arguing, we ended up paying them $100 more for “extra garbage disposal” since it was too late to find another company and we got to have the house cleared by the next day.
Lesson: Go with a mainstream furniture auction/moving company that will give you a itemized list that is in black and white. Never trust a 收買佬 especially新城 because you will end up paying more.
Years ago when this company just started, this Mr. So was very honest and I guess they knew being honest = no business, so some things changed.
2 years ago I called them again to get my furniture and on the phone they said they would take them all for free. Then Mr. So asked another man to come and he said my furniture is garbage and he need us to pay if we want them to take them. Obviously my furniture are very new but big, he thought we must be very helpless if no one would like to take those big furniture on the last day of moving out, and we suspected him will take out money but as well sell our "garbage" furniture too. So I rudely told the guy,"no, there's nothing we want you to take away, we will find our own way to dispose them!" And we saw he had "fire" on his head (because he paid the meter for parking haha). After like half an hour we went down to dispose some garbage, we found the man and the truck was still there, and there was another "homeless look" caucasian following him. The man saw us and quickly ask us again whether we need help or not, but we replied again and say, "丟掉都不會給錢你們賺" in mandarin... I know that really pissed him off, then he drove away.
NEVER TRUST THESE CHINA OPERATED SO CALLED 回收傢施 COMPANY
