I read the 1st edition in 60's
I read all the 2nd. edition volume,
haven't seen the 3rd. edition except the one in Simplified Chinese, I do not appreciate them.
To me, Simplified Chinese maybe alright for science, but for classical literature, no way.
It took me a while to read  the 4 articles

actually the first series i read was 書劍恩仇錄 and it was in simplified chinese

and YES i agree that traditional chinese gives a much better feel to it

I've skimmed through most of the articles on the site and all i can say is that there are some good changes and some quite unnatural ones..

I have the 2nd Edition Sets. I dunt mind some of the changes, but sometime the imperfect makes things perfect. Just like 天龍八部 新三版, they changed the ending as 段譽 didn't marry 王語嫣. 王語嫣's case is very realistic in 二版. She turned to段譽 after  being 慕容復所棄. Which is quite reasonable, and it is not fair to compare  王語嫣 with 馬夫人 woh.

"  這一回是金庸改版史上，絕無僅有的一次藉由改版為男主角「換妻」。在這一回中，金庸將大加闡述，新三版為何將段譽的妻子由王語嫣改為木婉清、鍾靈及曉蕾諸女。

    一、二版中，段譽苦戀王語嫣，終於以至誠感動佳人，苦盡甘來，抱得美人歸。金庸在新三版將這個「大圓滿」修改了，修改的原因，簡而言之，以王語嫣的角度而言，若王語嫣一遭慕容復所棄，便即轉投段譽懷抱，王語嫣未免太像馬夫人，水性楊花，金庸因此幫王語嫣安排最後仍回發瘋的慕容復身邊；又若以段譽而言，段譽本是因愛慕「神仙姊姊」才貪戀王語嫣的美色，對比起木婉清與鍾靈對段譽的真情，段譽好色勝於重情的性格太過明顯，因此金庸在新三版改說段譽戀上王語嫣是因「心魔」作祟，並在「心魔」減弱後，與王語嫣分手。

    因為這個「愛情大翻盤」的結局太過驚人，幾乎等於《射鵰》中郭靖棄黃蓉而改娶華箏，或《神鵰》中楊過與小龍女分手改愛陸無雙，新三版《天龍》一出，二版讀者一片譁然。而關於這段改寫，記者陳宛茜曾於2006年8月15日「七年改版十五部，金庸說：減肥成功」一文中寫及金庸自己的看法，道：「自古英雄愛美人。然而新修版《天龍八部》中，段譽追到王語嫣後，受夠她的嘮叨與自戀，徹悟昔日執著容貌的迷思，打破傳統的神仙眷侶大團圓結局。金庸坦言，他對最後改法仍不太滿意，覺得表達手法『不夠空靈』，但讓男主角『打破心魔』的嘗試卻讓他相當振奮。」"

I still prefer the 2nd edition that 段譽 and 王語嫣 ended up together. I do think it's reasonable for girl to change like that... (i mean 王語嫣 turn away her passion from her cousin to 段譽).
And 段譽 remains faithful and end up together is just the perfect 童話式 ending in girl's mind la..haha
I guess the 3rd edition is more for "guys perspective"...when they 得到手, then passion started to die down...haha
