If you are in the high risk group, I'd think you should get it.
Tamiflu is an antiviral, which is like antibiotics. The common side effects are nausea and vomiting. I won't say it's SUPER strong, but it is used to treat viral infection like flu VS antibioitics for bacterial infections.
A lot of big chain pharmacies actually have the pandemic supply from the government - so it's free. But they are only free for people who are actually sick. If you are getting it for just-in-case then you would have to pay for it. But if you have an extended heatlh benefit plan, it would be likely covered as well.
Get it or not now - I would say it depends if you live alone or not. If, touch wood, you really got it, you probably would be too sick to go out to fill your prescription. So it would be easier to have it on hand. However, if you have someone who can pick up your prescription for you, then you can wait till it actually happens first before getting it. If that's the case, I would leave the prescription on file in your pharmacy, so you just have to call them to order it when you need it and send someone else to pick it up for you. |
