I originally have planned to go to couple of restaurant and came back to write some review; however because of the border delay and heavy rain and wind, and on top of those, bad traffic in Seattle, I only went to one restaurant I planned to go; the name is "Malays Satay Hut".
They actually have three different locations and the one we went was Bellevue one.
The outside look of the restaurant was typical Chinese Cafe and they even posted "noodle, congee, rice and rice noodle inside" on the front door. Nothing impressive; However, the inside decoration was different. It has traditional Malaysian food court look. They had several big Malay pictures hanging on the wall too.
We were impressed with the menu too. They had many things that you cannot eat in Vancouver. We ordered two of them, Jawa Mee and Lobak. They were actually pretty big portion. Both tasted great and 95% similar taste as the one in Penang. Of course there were differences.
The first one would be the crispy thing. The one in Penang would be more slim. I am not food expert so I do not know how to call them. According to my wife, actually those good taste crispy thing inside the noodle only one restaurant in Penang was offering so it would not be a big deal.
The sauce for Lobak was a bit different too.
I definitely would go there again and try different food.
I also tried "老四川" in Bellevue and it was not good so I would not recommend it. It is just near the Malay Satay Hut. I ordered Dan Dan noodle and one noodle soup and I felt very thirsty afterward.
Even the name has Satay in "Malay Satay Hut" but it has more than Satay.
I will try the restaurant Fibbi suggested next time.
