The Insurance Corp. of B.C. announced Wednesday it will reduce optional car insurance premiums by an average of three per cent, effective Nov. 1.
The rate cuts are in addition to the 2.4 per cent reduction of basic insurance rates announced earlier this month. All together the cuts will save customers $80 million, according to ICBC.
The corporation said rates were reduced because of fewer crashes over the last few years.
Optional premiums have now been reduced by 20 per cent over the past six years, according to an ICBC news release.
