About 55 per cent of men say they've hooked up with someone with help from Facebook. But a relationship counsellor says the site can ruin a potential pairing pretty quickly because you can find some unsavoury details about a person with just the click of a mouse.

Respondents to the Daily XY online survey also shared some horror stories. One person says a relationship ended simply because he was too slow to change his Facebook status to "in a relationship'.

The survey shows almost half of guys have been in trouble with their significant others, thanks to pictures of past or potential partners on the social networking site.
