TOFINO (NEWS1130) - Two Vancouver Island paramedics killed in an ambulance crash last month will be remembered in a public memorial today.  The service will be held in Tofino, and will be telecast around the province through the Ambulance Service Intranet.

BJ Chute with BC Paramedics says roughly 3,500 people will gather today to say good-byes and their thank yous to the two paramedics.  

"I think it's important for the community to have an opportunity to come together and also for emergency services personnel to come and show their respects, and pay their tributes to the two paramedics that gave their lives in the line of duty."

Fifty-nine-year-old Jo-Ann Fuller and 65-year-old Ivan Polivka died when their ambulance careened off the Pacific Rim Highway.

Health Minister Kevin Falcon, Tofino Mayor John Fraser will speak at today's service.
