[中餐館] 508 Bistro 小酌 Bistro

We went to this Taiwanese restaurant in Burnaby last week for dinner. And we really like the food and want to share it here. It's on Kingsway, east of Metrotown across from Fitness World. The  location is a bit far for us from Richmond but it's probably OK for ppl from Burnaby, East Vancouver or Coquitlam.

I was so surprised to see stinky tofu on the menu. I thought we cannot have it in Vancouver any more!! So I ordered the stinky tofu mini pot. It was really good! Had Taiwanese style stinky tofu, pork blood cubes, pork intestine, (blood) sticky rice cake. It's slightly spicy but we can still taste the "stinkyness" of the tofu! And the intestine was very tender. ammm. I also tried the sticky rice cake for the very first time and I love the texture. There is no yucky blood taste in it at all.

We got excite and... totally ordered too much food after...
Here is the list:

Squid with chili sauce - very "crunchy" (song in Cantonese) and the chili sauce mild. This dish is refreshing!!

Deep fried sticky rice cake - it's done with the style of Taiwanese "pop corn" chicken. The sticky rice is very flavorful (not just from the seasoning salt outside). It's full of the goodness of deep fried food with the slightly chewy rice cake texture.


Hakka style stir fry - very nice wok "air". This dish is very fragrant with crunchy celery and salty bacon/salted pork. Less squid than what I usually see in this dish else where but I didn't miss the squid.

Both dishes above were good for beer! So we ordered 1 to share. (well still had to drive home after so we shared 1 beer)

We were pretty full at this point but we already ordered the "herb and wine chicken soup/pot". We were a bit surprised that it's pretty big. It's similar to size of a "soup of the day" that comes in a clay pot.

There were lots of chinese herbs, ginger, and dark chicken pieces in the pot. We let it boiled a little while to get the flavor out and I tried the soup. It's soo good! Especially it was so cold the day we went, that's the perfect soup to warm our body up.
The soup has hints of sweetness and I found out why after my 2nd bowl There were cabbage and clams at the bottom. yum!

I guess u can tell that we totally over ordered and had boxes to pack home. I think the price is reasonable. Most dishes are $7 to $10 except the soup was $2x (forgot exactly how much). I think the food we ordered were probably good for 4 ppl @@.

I have the same "thing". I have to order "pot" whenever I see it on the menu.

yeah... I need to stop ordering blood and intestine for a while.
Well, I don't get to eat them often since my bf doesn't eat them. @@
But yeah... 脂肪粒 near my eyes is a problem...
