VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - As much as people hate telemarketers, there is some hope.  Later today, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission is expected to make a major announcement regarding the 'Do Not Call List.'

The CRTC regulates the list, but it's not releasing many details right now.  Reporters are expected to get their first glimpse of the new information around 12 p.m. and it will be released publicly an hour later.

It apparently relates to a Do Not Call List penalty.  A recent CRTC investigation found that a company called Xentel broke the rules, calling numbers on the list even though it wasn't supposed to.

The telemarketers have been dinged with a record $500,000 fine.  Only 25 fines have ever been handed since the list was first created back in 2008.
