Constable Jodyne Keller says patrol officers always have a list of shelters, but a level of trust needs to be built with the homeless community.
She says often times all that people need is a human connection.
"Honestly if I can get any message across, it's look at someone you believe is homeless, look at them in the eyes and just say "Hello." They'll remember you the next time. If you do nothing more than that you restore the dignity to those people that they think they've lost because they are sleeping outside." |
