I want to say Diu la sing la..

5角至 1元 ... complain????

Look at Canada ... all kind of rest .. keep rising their price .. won't even tell public!!!

$20HKD for a set combo ..  can't even get a McDonald biscuit here!!!

On the other hand, price increase in HK is normal, and make sense, as HKD (US$) has dropped like crazy ..  say HK$ : Rmb  $1HKD only worth ~ 80cent rmb ... 全球食材成本上漲 a lots to HK ...

I was surprised the price increase is so little .. should be 10-15% rather then 3-5% ..

Same story to US .. with their weak currency, everything should be much higher price there!!

C Hing, on the surface, you are entirely correct. However, the issue need to be looked at from a HKer's perspective. In particular, the problem is 2-fold:

1) Among the lower economic class / grassroot crowds that frequently visit 太刻薄 and Fairwood, their income levels are low to begin with. Moreover, their salaries have been stagnant, if not scaled back while the rich continues to amass their wealth. So every dollar and cent increase is another dollar and cent less from their already nearly empty pockets.

2) 太刻薄 has previously promised not to be the leader in price increases, and yet they continue to do this despite record profits of 3億.

People are not complaining about the price increase per se, but are criticizing 太刻薄 for being so 刻薄. So it is more of a matter of social justice instead of a simple inflation issue la.

I guess the situation in HK and Vancouver is pretty much the same.  If you look at min wages.

HK min. wages is $28.  Just enough to buy BBQ duck lunchbox.
Vancouver is $8, Just enough to buy BBQ duck lunchbox.

Some place in Vancouver are cheaper even after HST, but BC min wage workers still pay Personal income tax, not the case in HK.

I don't know who is worse.

You ask Macdonalds to cut prices here? LOL
What a stupid anti-Hong Kong moron you are?

I don't think making 3億 then Cafe de coral is necessarily making too much money. They also invest a lot of money in their stores and employ a lot of people.
You need to look at the balance sheet and look for things like gross margin, operating profit, EBITDA, return on equity etc, in order to determine the profitability of a company.

Mr Lik, if you do not know about accounting, just STFU.

And Canadians are entitled to EI benefits for up to what... 45 or 50 weeks? After that, there is still welfare.
But what do HK folks have when they are laid off? They might as well go eat shxt la.

Also, the work and lunch culture here in Canada is totally different from that in HK.

The culture of Canada is indebtedness and going bankrupt. Canadians will need to pay $trillions for the public debt.
