美軍轟斃拉登 911恐襲主腦 屍首被海葬 巴基斯坦, 阿富汗

【明報專訊】美國總統奧巴馬證實阿蓋達組織主腦拉登遭美軍狙殺。據悉，拉登的屍體被運至阿富汗後已海葬，美國官員稱，是次突擊行動中，拉登的一名兒子亦被殺。

奧巴馬在美國華盛頓時間星期日晚深夜發表全國電視演說。

奧巴馬說，他上任後已經下令美國情報局局長帕內塔將捉拿拉登列為頭號工作，在取得情報知道拉登在巴基斯坦一幢大宅後，他下令在上星期開始採取行動捉拿拉登。

在美國華盛頓時間的星期日，奧巴馬再次發號司令向這幢受高牆保護的大宅採取行動，主要由一小隊人負責，據報美軍由直升機降落大宅，雙方曾經駁火，沒有美軍同平民死亡，成功將拉登殺死，並已經扣押他的屍體。

加拿大總理哈珀(Stephen Harper)昨晚在卑詩省阿博斯福發表簡短聲明，稱保護公眾安全一直是政府首要工作，加國對於拉登被殺的消息，感到審慎的滿意，他並稱會繼續堅定對抗全球的恐怖活動。

較早前的報道說，美國曾經核對過DNA，證實這個屍體屬於拉登。在美國總統奧巴馬宣布蓋達領袖拉登的死訊時，白宮外，數以百計的群眾歡呼。大批群眾湧到白宮外，高叫「美國，美國」的口號，又有人高唱美國國歌，叫喊和歡呼。

1) Bin Laden and al Qaeda has repeatedly admitted responsibility for the 911 WTC and other terrorist attacks. Is there any further doubt as to who the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks is?

2) The US have openly declared war on terrorism and al Qaeda as well. This is a military special ops mission conducted by the Navy SEALs. In a combat / war time situation, do the battalions go through the law courts before they can open / return fire?

You say you are not showing bin Laden any sympathy, but you are most certainly trying for a smear campaign on a topic where even Grandfather (your master) has openly acknowledged that this was a major milestone in the fight against terrorism. Allow me to remind you that Grandfather has a stake in supporting anti-terrorism because he needs to fly under this banner to proceed with his (lawfully questionable) oppressions on the Xinjiang independence movements.

As your master's dog, you do not want to cross his words in areas where he has an active interest.

Yeah, that's the first thing that went through my mind when I hear this. The news are making it sound like this is an assasination attempt, instead of capture. No matter how evil one is perceived to be, assasination is simply not the way to go, nor is it the best for American morale. And even if he is mistakenly killed during a capture attempt, why is his burial done so hastily? 2 and 2 is not adding up...

I am not trying to whip up some conspiracy theory here, but what's done is just not how things have ususally been done... Something is especially odd here....

We need to see the proof that he actually resisted US force.

The US always do these steps.
First they declare a war.
Then if any of the attacks killed civilians, then they will say it is just normal war collateral damages. Therefore these Americans will not need to take responsibility.
They always claim they tried not to kill civilians, but this is not true. Iraq is an example where civilians are killed nearly daily.

The burial has to be fast because by Islamic laws, the dead needs to be buried within 24 hours of dying. Had the US failed to do that, extremists groups would use that as yet another issue to stir up and incite anti-US sentiments.

The sea-burial make sense from the US' point of view as well, as they do not want to see the burial site / grave get turned into a shrine or place of memorial for the jihadists. However, it is uncommon for Muslims to have sea burial, as it is typically reserved for those who died on the seas where circumstances prevent the body from being safely transported back on land. Again, the US is already drawing fire for it.

Not matter how the corpse is handled, extremists groups are going to pick a bone. The best the US can do is to control and manage the situation so that the minimal amount of noise will result.
