BC teachers to take a strike vote next month
Want to see administrative duties dropped

0 VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - BC teachers will hold a strike vote at the end of June, allowing them to take job action in September if necessary.

But British Columbia Teachers' Federation President Susan Lambert says teachers do not plan to set up picket lines, they have another strategy in mind.

"We are going to find the time to teach more effectively, to attend to the individual needs of students more effectively, by eliminating from our work load the administrative burdens that have been placed on teachers," says Lambert.

She says some of the other issues include class sizes, compensation, and benefits packages that haven't improved in 15 years.

The vote will be held June 24th through the 28th.
