Firefighter taken to hospital after two fires in Shaughnessy
One of the blazes considered suspicious

0 VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A firefighter has been taken to hospital after Vancouver Fire received calls about two separate fires in Shaughnessy this morning.

They happened around Granville and 16th Avenue. "We've had two fires in this area," explains Fire Captain Gabe Roder.

"The first one came in about 3:45 a.m. on Marpole Street just off of Granville. It was a shed/garage... Investigators feel that fire was deliberately set. It's very suspicious in nature."

About a half an hour later, another fire broke out at a mansion on Angus Drive near Granville. "At his point, [investigators] don't feel that one is suspicious."

Roder tells us the firefighter who was taken to hospital has been treated and released.
