VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - The Olympic Cauldron is being relit tonight to honour firefighters across the province.

Josh Heppner with Sutton Group is organizing the event and tells us all proceeds from tonight's event will go to the Burn Fund. The fund provides life-saving and supportive services to burn survivors, as well as burn awareness, research and prevention programs.

"We wanted to take our hats off and salute our hometown heroes and light the cauldron," Heppner told News1130. "We thought that would be a great way to do it, and if anything went awry, at least we have firefighters to take care of it."

The cauldron will be relit from 7 to 11 p.m. tonight at Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver.

"There's going to be Hometown Heroes Lottery tickets available for sale, and also the firefighters are going to be around for photo-ops," Heppner added. "Hopefully we can raise some money for 'em"
