想問而家出境係咪仲要留低电氣Serial No.?

如手提電話,電腦, digital camera 等

因擔心入境時要交稅

it has always been suggested that you do so..but there's no strict law saying you have to

it's just easier to come back if you have registered your items ahead of time

---

on another note, i'm also worried that if I register some things..but when I come back I have other things, then I have to admit those are new because they're not on the list..

Yes .. but .. then .. it is also kind of useless ..

Everytime I go HK ..  I will declare my lao top .. camera .. etc ..

So .. I did it as usual last time .   but then the LADY said " do you have RECEIPT TO PROVE THAT YOU BOUGHT THEM IN CANADA ? "

I said " no .  who will BRING ALL RECEIPTS with himself??   They are OLD CAMERA ..  how can I keep ALL RECEIPT, and ALWAYS WITH ME, now you see it, wrote down the serial number ..  so which mean it is FROM Canada"

She said " no .. what if you bought this from OUTSIDE CANADA before?? if you cannot PROVE that was purchased in CANADA, custom can still tax you, no matter it is new or not, first time you bring it OUTSIDE of CANADA or NOT"

Then I asked her again " so why do I do the declare then? and why it askes for the serial number? "

She said again " well .. it is just the process, it won't help you ANYTHING, and custom can still charge you DUTY and TAX on the items you ALREADY declared"

I was ............

Anyway ..  I did it ..  but I have heard so many stupid story from stup_d Canadian Custom ..

Friend of my .. his omega ... is still in Custom's hand .. he bought it in Canada many many year ago .. but custom wanted to charge him duty+tax, and he refused .. so they took his omega ...

but if you have to bring you notebook in & out of canada, will the first tax receipt prevent them from taxing you anymore on the same product?

they wanted to take my camera once when i came back from the states.  cuz they searched my car and couldnt find anything to tax.  (since i didnt buy anything that time, everything was in another car )

then i told them i have the registration card and they said, so what, it doesnt mean anything.  then i said, then whats the point of the custom officer filling it out for me when i paid duty on it.   that stupid custom chick didnt say anything.
then i said, u can keep it all u want, since i'm just gonna come back and pick it up without paying any taxes on it and also will be filing a complain to you.   she talk a bit to another custom guy and let us go with my camera.

its better to have that card, but sometimes its really useless if the customs wanna be an ass.
dont let them scare u.

yes, custom is stupid...they told me the same thing too...unless you have proof that you actually paid taxes when you bought it...so even if you bought in Canada and paid taxes...they can still double tax you!

TOP

tell them to prove the stuff is not bought in Canada lor

last time they asked me to prove that if things were bought locally or not ... I told them "ebay", 2nd hand politely and he let go.

Actually ..   "ebay" is a good answer ..

Again .. it PURELY depend on your luck .  if the custom wants to tax u . what can u do??

Flight with him? argue with him? you will be the one who will lose ..

When I did declare for my electronic ..  ( with my wife )  my wife said she has the receipts at home etc ..    then that lady gave her tough time .  and then I told her, I got all my stuffs from ebay, ( ebay.ca )  then she was ok, and said " oh .. cool, good stuff from ebay! "

well ..   what can i say??

And how hard to make a receipt for second hand item??
