VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - There's been a serious boat crash on the Fraser River. A boat crashed into some logs injuring five people late last night.
It happened at 11 p.m. in the north arm of the river between Richmond and Vancouver right near Mitchell Island.
"Three of them were ejected from the vessel and two of them remained on board. There were a couple of injuries, one spinal and one chest injury to the people who remained on board. The other three were recovered from the water," says Paul Tasker is with the Coast Guard in Victoria.
The Coast Guard is asking people to be careful on the water, because they've had a few similar incidents so far this year.
"This year we've had a couple of incidents with vessels striking objects in the water in the dark. Just recently we had another one out by Chemainus. Three gentlemen were in a vessel that struck a log tow."
It's unclear if alcohol was a factor in this case |
