DELTA (NEWS1130) - A 30-year-old worker has serious injuries to his leg after he was pulled into a potato harvester.
He was airlifted to hospital from a farm in Delta.
The man's right leg was pulled into the machine, trapping it up to the hip and resulting in a crushing injury.
It happened at Port Guichon Farms, a family-owned property that's been in the Lower Mainland for more than a century.
Donna Freeman speaks for WorkSafe BC.
"We were notified. We did attend, and we are proceeding with an investigation," she says.
The worker is a Mexican citizen working on a Canadian visa.
While he has no broken bones, doctors aren't saying what will happen to his leg.
There is muscle and tissue damage that could lead to problems.
Delta Police are warning people who use heavy machinery to always be conscious of the dangers involved, and to operate the machinery within manufacturer guidelines. |
