捨身護兩童 這個Auntie真偉大
偉大婦人捨命救兩童！身為三間公司董事的IT奇才陳港榮，為人務實低調，昨晨駕老爺私家車，載着兩名年幼兒子、外母及內地女親友，擬往參加教會崇拜，駛至元朗公路突「拋錨」，被尾隨貨車狂撞，車尾摺扁成廢鐵，後座女親友捨命攬住兩童傷重慘死，陳港榮則插爆肺命危，其外母亦危殆，兩子重傷，貨車司機涉危險駕駛導致他人死亡被捕。

陳港榮（四十歲）為中文大學計算機工程系博士，與姓李妻子，育有兩名兒子天揚（七歲）及天朗（五歲），居住屯門景峰花園。陳年輕有為，身家豐厚，但為人低調，平日駕駛十四年車齡的萬事得私家車代步，惟舊車問題多多，他早前曾對親友透露：「遲啲都想換車。」可惜換車前卻「死火」遇上奪命車禍。魂斷香港的女子羅麗鴻（四十一歲）為陳妻的內地親友，日前持雙程證來港探望陳的外母（七十二歲）。

擬往教會崇拜
事發於昨晨九時許，陳駕車接載外母及兩子往元朗基督教信義會生命堂參加崇拜，羅女亦同往，而陳妻則因事未能同行。當時一車五人，外母坐在車頭乘客位，羅與天朗及天揚坐後座，當私家車駛至元朗公路近富泰邨對開時，突然死火停在中線，陳立刻拉手掣，後面一輛運凍肉密斗貨車疑收掣不及狂撼陳車，衝力極猛，陳車被推前六十米，到左邊避車處隔音屏才停下。私家車車尾爛如廢鐵，前面座位亦壓到向前傾。貨車車頭損毀，姓高（四十二歲）司機嚇到目瞪口呆，坐在路邊待援。

人肉護盾攬實
大批消防員趕抵，將被困車內五人逐一救出，陳左手骨折變形，被抬出時痛哭大叫：「好痛呀！冇啦！冇啦！」而羅女左手攬住天朗及天揚，夾於車尾箱及司機椅背中間，當場昏迷。天朗被救出時仍清醒，疑受驚過度，呆了片刻始放聲大哭；天揚頭骨及大腿骨折，送院途中一直昏迷。羅女送院後證實傷重死亡；陳多處骨折，胸骨折斷插爆肺，情況危殆，其外母、天揚及天朗留醫深切治療部。

警方封鎖現場調查，摺曲的車廂內一片凌亂，遺下六十張五百元現鈔，共三萬元。警方相信車禍時坐在後座的羅女為保護天朗及天揚攬住他們，兩小童因身形細小，方能於後座位罅隙中保命。貨車司機涉危險駕駛導致他人死亡被捕，暫准以五千元保釋，下月四日報到。

That driver should be charged multiple counts of manslaughter instead of dangerous driving!!!  He should have his license taken away forever too.

Heard of this case yesterday. Other than speeding by 20~30km/hr, and not seeing the car parked in the middle lane, is there anything that the truck driver have done that'd constitute dangerous driving if not for hitting this car? Putting this particular case aside, doing what the truck driver did, the max one'd get is a regular speeding ticket.

The parked car on the other hand, parked the car in the middle lane on a highway, without flashing the emergency light. The diagram above is not even accurate. Other than the 3 highway lanes, there's actually a shoulder lane on the left of the 3 lanes. If your vehicle is starting to stall, one should immediately try to get to a shoulder lane before the vehicle loses momentum completely and put on the warning light. Stopping in the middle of the highway is just asking for trouble. Not to mention that the speed limit there is 70-80. There should be a lot of time between stalling and your vehicle loses momentum and gets to a complete stop.

I think if the only thing the truck driver did wrong is speeding, and he get charged for something much more serious due to this accident, he's very 無辜. Cuz with the assumption that the only thing he did is speeding and happen to not see the car being parked, then in my opinion the parked car have equal if not greater responsiblity.

from the above news, it says "陳立刻拉手掣",  if that's the case, the driver used hand brake to stop the car and didn't use the foot brake.  
If the driver didn't use the foot brake, the brake light won't come on.   Any car behind him on a highway would sure hit la.  

Of course, there is lots of assumptions here.

We can't blame the van driver only.  

The accident rings the bell of road safety.
The driver should check the car regularly and make sure it is safe.  The car is 14 years old and has a lot of problems, including sudden 死火.  Now, it pays 好大的代價

It relates to road sense, too.  If you look at the back mirror and find a vehicle is approaching without lowering the speed, the driver should release the hand brake.  I know it is just a second's decision.
