VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - It got a little soggy inside BC Place Stadium during today's storm, but the company handling the renovation project says it's nothing to worry about.
PavCo says the roof isn't sealed yet but it will be in time for the grand opening on Friday when the BC Lions play their first game in their new digs.
There was a wind warning earlier today for Metro Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast and the Gulf Islands, but it has since been lifted.
News1130 meteorologist Russ Lacate predicted the storm front would pass by the middle of the afternoon meaning the wind would ease and the rain would taper off.
Rain was very heavy at times for the coastal sections throughout the day and tonight with some areas getting between 60 to 80 millimetres of rain today through to Tuesday morning.
Between 8,500 and 11,000 homes were without power for much of the day in the Lower Mainland and on the Sunshine Coast.
BC Hydro has a mobile page that allows smartphone users to get real-time updates on outages.
BC Ferries cancelled the 1 p.m. sailing from Swartz Bay to Tsawassen because of the stormy weather.
