WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A West Vancouver police officer was slightly injured after an SUV rammed a police cruiser on the Upper Levels Highway near the Cypress Bowl exit Tuesday afternoon.
The highway was closed to eastbound traffic for about three hours but one lane reopened just before 6 p.m. Eastbound traffic on Highway 1 was backed up to Eagle Ridge during the rush hour and on Marine Drive was backed up to Horseshoe Bay.
Dave called News1130 and says both the cruiser and a black SUV are smashed up.
"I don't know if this cop rammed him or what, but it's a straight section of road and the front of this police car is just totalled," he says.
Another listener, Leslie, says she saw the arrest.
"The police man managed to man-handle him and I watched in the rear-view mirror, they dragged him out and I guess obviously arrested him."
Witnesses say it looked like an officer injured his leg but police aren't commenting.
The driver of the SUV was arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries |
