Same Agent or different agent for selling/buying?

Hi everyone..

just wondering did you stick with ONE agent for both buying/selling your house
or did you have 2 different ones?

I currently live in Yaletown and want to move to Richmond...but I'm worried if I get a Richmond agent, they might not be familiar or be able to find customers for a Yaletown apartment...and vice versa

I've had many calls from interested agents looking for Yaletown apartments to sell...that probably means they have clients on hand that want to buy in Yaletown....

do you think it's a good idea to get 2 different agents, each of which is familiar in the different areas?

I don't know about you, but I'd prefer dealing with the same agent for buy/sell to save time and probably some commission.

A good agent shouldn't limited to be experienced in one or two areas only. I rather say to choose the agent with aggressive and skillful attitude for selling your current home (to magnify the pros of your home but try not to mention the cons that much...) ; as well as with honest to look for your potential new home (not to push you to buy a not-so-good home but lie to you that it's how good how good blah blah...)!

I would go for two in your case.  It's hard to find an agent who is familiar with all areas.  You may want to find a caucasian agent for your Yaletown house and a chinese agent for the Richmond place since a lot of Richmond homeowners/sellers are chinese.  With two agents you may sometimes have a better bargaining power.

Just my 2 cents.

P.S.  Wanna move to Richmond? Nice.  We could go for baby outing together someday perhaps? Haha.

I currently have a Chinese agent for Richmond

I still haven't decided on an agent for Yaletown..but there's an agent who has called us every few months asking if we want to sell because they have people who want to buy...

most likely we will buy before we sell..so if we think the Chinese agent we have right now is good, we MIGHT consider him for selling our Yaletown too....

but then again....there are lots of rich caucasians who would buy yaletown and probably not 壓低個價錢 as much as Chinese might..so...sigh..dunno

華美子: ha..that sounds like a good idea! my son LOVES anyone female..haha...he should definitely meet your daughter..hehe

Use the same agent, ask the agent only get one side of the commission( either selling or buying) , if the agent do not agreed  that find another one.
Not much difference to find one in Richmond and other in Downtown, They all use the same networking to hunt for the houses. But most of the top big "White" agents will not agree to take half of the commission, because they done so many deals and they don't care to loose one.
