日本官員表示，福島核子災變後，瓦礫堆釋放出的伽瑪射線遠比受損核電廠釋出的放射性銫元素來得令人憂心。
根據遞交給國際原子能總署的報告，核電廠大約每小時釋出0.01貝克的銫，遠低於危害健康的基準。
提出報告的木慎一表示，更大的挑戰是減少瓦礫堆中，釋放量相對較高的伽瑪射線。
強震及海嘯17個月前侵襲福島核電廠，摧毀安全系統，廣大地區受到輻射污染。
國際原子能總署署長天野之彌敦促與會代表，就福島核災後的核子安全保持「急迫感」。
