mine's a sharp~
i've only used it for 1 summer (last summer)
i got it at costco down at bellingham
it was cheaper even after we got taxed by the customs

make sure you get enough BTU for the size of your room
and some portable ACs require you to empty out the water after a few hours or so. i guess it's better if you get one that doesn't require you to do that~
and some has a double hose system.. which i think cools down the room faster. mine's only a single hose but i think it's good enough. (my room is a little over 300 sq ft)
and a timer is always handy~ so you can set it to turn on by itself even before you get home~

just when I'm thinking about getting an a/c it started snowing again....crazy weather....

Does it use a lot of electricity?  How much more electricity does it use?

im not very tech savvy... my dad and bf did most of the work for me..
so i don't know for sure how good/reliable that one is..
but
it looks almost identical as mine, im thinking it's an updated version of mine
the model # of yours is CVP10MX
mine's CVP10MC
but it sounds like it's alright. and i don't think it uses too much electricity
our bill didn't go up by much
compare the Energy Efficiency Rating of this AC with the other ones... (i can't seem to see what my ac's eer is...)

does it require to put the tube on the window?  my home's window is the push out open type but not slide window.  i need to find an air con that does not need to place the tube on the window.

My house have Central AC now, but I have had a portable one for quite some years.

It actually doesn't ues that much power, if you use it with the timer setup

U know how your room is usually very warm, but become cooler pass around 3am or so...!  So in many cases, you only need to have the AC on for a few hours, and have it turn off around 3am...

I think push type window is ok as long as the air can escape and the hardware can cover up the window.  I don't think there is a portable a/c without ducting.
