Can I claim nursing tuition fees during receiving EI?

Hi all,
recently my employer lay me off, so I am receiving EI. but I want to apply for better job next time, my parents told me to take&study some nursing courses. I think the program tuition costs will be roughly $15000 - $17500.

since this is my first time getting EI benefits, does the government somehow support us (financially) to re-train/upgrade ourselves for better jobs?

thankyou all

Think and think, and think again before you make your decision! Being a nurse is not easy, are you willing to take care of sick people, and able to cleanup their mess like urine, fesis and emesis?  are you able to look after people carrying  HIV or other contagious desease?  cau you work in a stressful enviroment full of germs ? can you love someone you don't really know?

What about student loan?

Check with the school.  They should know where you can get financial assistance.

Nursing is one of the most noble professions!!  Thank you and good luck.

you can ask human resource (informally known as man-power canada) to give you advice RE: whether you can get financial assistance or not.

All the best to your endeavours. We need more nurses like you to help ease the tention of nursing personnel shortage in BC/Canada.

You have to prove to the EI people you are not suitable for the kind of work you've been doing, then they will give you training fund.  Otherwise, you are supposed to actively searching for employment. Going to school instead of looking for work could be a violation of EI.

Best advice is to talk to them first before you change direction.

Anyway, if you have the calling for this professional, it is a bullet-proofed job.  Good luck.
