基因成功植入老鼠 絕種袋狼「復活」 恐龍長毛象有望重生

【明報專訊】澳洲    和美國    的科研小組周二表示，他們將已絕種的袋狼（又稱塔斯曼尼亞虎Tasmanian tiger）的基因植入老鼠體內，成功使該基因「復活」，此舉有望日後令恐龍重現世上。
  
曾生活於澳洲 1936年絕種

袋狼（Thylacine）體型苗條、臉似狐狸，是近代最大食肉有袋類動物，曾廣泛生活於澳洲和新幾內亞。由於袋狼被大量獵殺，故1900年代初已鮮見牠們在野外出沒。1936年最後一隻圈養袋狼死亡後，相信牠們已絕種。

由墨爾本    大學的帕斯克（Andrew Pask）率領的研究小組表示已成功令一個袋狼的基因在老鼠胚胎裏「復活」﹕「這是世界首次，用另一生物體培育絕種動物的DNA產生功能反應。」現時，一些成年及幼年袋狼的組織以酒精保存，但研究小組採用的，是墨爾本維多利亞    博物館裏的標本基因。

專家﹕踏出非常重要一步

今次的成功試驗增加複製絕種動物的機會。新南威爾士大學科學院院長阿徹（Mike Archer）表示，今次是邁向複製袋狼「非常重要的一步」。他說﹕「我深信這將成為事實。我與另一小組正研究重新培育另一絕種的澳洲動物，我們認為這可能性極高。」

帕斯克則表示﹕「我們現在創立的技術，讓人們可研究絕種動物的基因功能，所以假如有完整的基因，理論上也能讓長毛    象（猛）、尼安德塔人（早期智人）甚至恐龍『復活』。」

when I read the title on yahoo news this morning...I thought to myself....hm..Jurassic Park coming...???

Cracking the code of life has become the  mainstream biological science.  It solves a lot of problems and crack open a lot of soultion to different problem but it also create new problems as well.

Reviving mamoth is not so scientific but it is quite a romantic idea to me. Mamoth died out of drastic environmental change. You can say it is evolutional. Tasmanian tiger died out of human 's ignorance. It is not evolutional.
