溫苗 need your help: 溫苗助學行2008 - 建抗震教室 building, donated, getting, raising, annual

Vancouver Sowers Society of Education is going to have the annual walk on Jun15 (the coming Sunday) at 10am at Stanley Park. The fund raised will be used to help building some prefabricated classrooms at Gansu. Gansu was seriously damaged by the earthquake but has not been getting much attention.

In the last few weeks, there have been lots of fund raising events for the China earthquake. You probably have donated to help the immediate relief - food, shelter, health...etc. However, there are other areas that also need prompt assistance. Education of children is one of them. Numerous schools have collapsed during the earthquake. The rebuilding of schools will take years, and the children need something quick to help them resume schooling.

How to help?

Vancouve Sowers Society of Education (VSSE) is holding our annual walk on 15June. Originally the fund raised would be to rebuild a school in Gansu . Due to the 512 earthquake, VSSE has decided that the fund raised would be used to build prefabricated classrooms. Prefabricated classrooms are quick to build and is pretty earthquake resistant. The first prefabricated classroom (built by our sister organization Sowers Action HK) has already been completed.

For your information, the schools build by Sowers Action have 'passed the test' - all are still standing after the earthquake. 苗圃的學校不是豆腐渣！This demonstrate the high standards of monitoring and control by Sowers Action. This is China 's worst earthquake in decades. I hope we all consider exercising our generosity beyond our usual limits. If you feel the urge to help, you can do the following:
