呢單野你地點睇﹖

http://www.singtao.ca/van/2008-08-08/1218190885d1207754.html

if i were the mother, i would take the baby to washroom n feed him...
nth wrong w/ breast feeding ... its normal...
just like a guy scratching his thing........ its "normal".......... but lets not do it in front of everyone..
some ppl may not be comfortable seeing that....

i'd understand if they breast feed the baby in a restaurant bcuz they need to stay there for some time..
but u can easily walk out of H&M n feed ur baby...

i was watching the english news on this news item.....one of the mothers they interviewed mentioned another reason why they wanted to do this mass-breastfeeding event...

she was on a plane flying with her infant and as most mothers now, it is best for a baby to be sucking on something (milk, formula, pacifier) during take-off so the baby's ears will not be pressured...so she decided to breastfeed WITHOUT her shirt on. The flight-attendant came over and asked if she wanted a blanket to cover up her bare breast because other people on the plane were uncomfortable with seeing a bare-breasted woman. She declined even when the flight-attendant asked politely. The flight-attendant didn't pressure her to cover up with a blanket but did bring a blanket over and placed it on the seat beside the woman. The woman then wrote a complaint letter saying she felt insulted by the flight-attendant's act...

Even as a mother, I felt that the breast-feeding mother was over-reacting. Even she said the flight-attendant only asked once and didn't even cover her up with the blanket...all she did was place a blanket in the empty seat beside her and left. I think it's ridiculous that she would feel offended....I don't think the flight attendant did anything wrong by asking nicely and then offering a blanket indirectly.

It's like...if you are in a restaurant and some guy decided to take his pants off...if you found it offensive, you'd probably asked the waiter to ask the guy to wear his pants, right? So if another customer felt offended by a woman's bare breast, I think they should be allowed to ask nicely for the lady to cover-up or leave the establishment. It's just common courtesy that a person (or persons) should feel comfortable in a public area....it's not like they forced the mother out of H&M or off the plane. They asked nicely for her to coverup or to breastfeed in an enclosed area (change-room).

Just like what Blue said above...breastfeeding is a natural thing but so is peeing and pooping...you wouldn't do it in public if there was a washroom available, right? If you've been offered a private area to feed your child, why wouldn't you do it? It is not shameful to do..in fact, if there was a specific area to do something (like breastfeed or change a diaper), I would find it a PRIVILEDGE or a courtesy on behalf of the store for being so considerate to mothers.

It is better to do it in quite place.  In breast feeding, the baby needs to concentrate as well.  Sucking the milk out of mother's body also requires effort.  Babies are nosey, they want to know things happen around them all the time.  When they feel hungry, that means they are wild awake.  If there is noise around, they would not able to concentrate on their meal.  A 10 minutes job could take half an hour or longer.

I agree with this...but a lot of the human rights advocates forgot about the second part.

For one thing, if it causes disturbance in the public then it's better to find a "better" way to do it.  Breastfeeding in front of a large might not be the best thing to do.  Yes breastfeeding is natural, but so is peeing and pooing.  Will you like it if someone sitting at the next table changes a diaper while you're eating in a restaurant?  I'm sure you won't feel very comfortable.  This is a multicultural society, many different people with different believes, some group are very conservative and there's nothing wrong with that.  So to protect a smaller group of people's rights we forgot about the rights of the larger group?  Doesn't make sense at all.

Breastfeeding is fine, but just do it in a quiet place as much as possible please.  Flashing the breast in the public will probably do more harm than good!

i agree with most of the comments that breastfeeding in public may cause some ppl feeling uncomfortable... & be courteous one should at least do some cover...

hey.. but do u know breastfeeding in the washroom??????  do u want to eat your burger in the washroom?? I dont' think many will like this idea. I mean.. if the washroom is very clean & without odor, oh .. maybe.. u know breastfeed takes more than 10 minutes to complete & it may last 30 min or so..  if the washroom is full with odor .. where is the next place available in the mall to let you breastfeed?

I personally will choose to cover up the bare breast but i dont see a problem if a woman is coverd (or partially covered) & breastfeeding her hungry baby in colic...
