VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A reminder from Vancouver Police, and police all over the Lower Mainland: do not drink and drive this holiday season. The VPD says you will continue to see road blocks into the New Year.

VPD and RCMP road checks have been on the streets for weeks now, and dozens of 24-hour driving suspensions have been handed out, along with a few impaired driving charges. Constable Howard Chow says there are no excuses for drinking and driving, and if you're caught, it's not something you're going to be able to talk your way out of. "Sometimes the driver is so intoxicated they'll do some outlandish things. Our roadblock crews have seen it all."

Chow says the public has also become part of the "road-watch" process. "There's lots of eyes out there. People call 9-1-1 all the time (when they see drunk drivers). So if you think you'll get away with it, you're wrong."

Constable Chow advises people to make arrangements ahead of time, so you can enjoy the parties you go to this holiday season without worrying how you're going to get home. "When it gets to be 2 or 3 in the morning and you've had a few drinks, then it's too late to figure out how to get home."

HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY! And don't take the risk.

I hate the police.  They don't do anything else other than catching drunk drivers, speeders, etc.

You will always see some cops in a Tim Horton.

Unless you are a crime lord or in a biker gang member, I guess you wont see them do anything else.

I am not sure what you are thinking.., not so much about speeding.., but drink and drive is just a NO NO..
