this is an old post. but don't know if you still need help with sunshine coast.
sunshine coast has two portions. upper and lower sunshine coasts. if you want just a day trip, it is possible to do the whole lower sunshine coast in a day trip. if you're thinking about a few days, you may want to consider expanding your activities at lower sunshine coast, and perhaps include the upper sunshine coast as well.
lower sunshine coast expands from the ferry terminal langdale up to earls cove. major locations are gibsons and sechelt (which you may have heard of already). upper sunshine coast is another ferry ride from earls cove to west. and that's where powell river is.
what to do?
kayak, canoe, many hikes, watch the rapids at skookumchuck. there are lots to do. most if not all activities are outdoors though.
where to stay?
b&b is good enough. but they are not that cheap. during the summer hot season months, most require a minimum stay of 2 nights. b&b has a limit of how many people you can have, and usually up to 5 at most. you'll be staying at the host's house. sometimes they have other guests at the house too. and breakfast is included.
if you have a big group, you choices are cottages or cabins. however, they require a minimum of 2 nights (some 3) and up to 6 people (varies). you'll get the whole cottage/cabin for your party and won't be sharing anything with other guests. these usually have a caretaker living a block away. and they don't really check the number of people you have. but i don't recommend shoving 12 people in a cottage/cabin that is ideal for 6. just think about how long you'll have to wait for your chance to use the bathroom! |
