according to the faculty of graduate studies website, there is a minimum academic requirement:
At least four years of study with a B+ average in third and fourth year-level course work, or at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A- grade range (at UBC 80% or higher) in the field of intended graduate study
and of course it will be easier if you have even higher grades
also it will be even better if you have a faculty member who is willing to take you as a graduate student (before you apply)...and have him/her writing one of the three reference letters for you...
the application is basically like the following (i went through this once last year...for the biochem department)...you apply through the grad studies webpage.....the faculty of grad studies will pass your application to the department that you want to go to...the department will review your application and give you interviews if you are qualified...once you pass your interview and if a faculty is willing to take you as a grad student....the department will notify the faculty of grad studies...and you will become a grad student!
